El Refugio

2022

Malinalco, Edo de México

The case study for “EL refugio” was a land densely populated by trees located in Malinalco, so a quantitative investigation was carried out in which it is proposed to respect all the trees and divide the land into sectors or plots where was possible to build. Each plot was given a code and name for study of specific dimensions and characteristics. After analyzing each plot, it was decided to do a modular study of spaces. By combining both studies, it was possible to understand a program and a feasibility, thus resulting in a volumetric game of spaces that extend on the land depending on their location or sector, the more space the more modules and so on; In this way, the vegetation density of the place was 100% respected, giving it an absolute hierarchy. “El refugio” in this way is consolidated as a set of spaces for contemplation of the environment, an ode to what is already there and we must respect.
